Position Summary

EBI is seeking a full-time Energy Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical engineering analysis of a variety of building types and building systems. This early career level position will require limited experience, though may have some knowledge of energy audits, HVAC system types, commissioning, energy modeling, in addition to education in building physics, thermodynamics, energy, and heat transfer. The candidate will be adaptive to working with all property types (multifamily, higher education, healthcare, government facilities, etc.), and will work on the analysis and energy consumption associated with a variety of HVAC, lighting, controls, plumbing, and building enclosure systems in both new and existing buildings.

This position reports to the Senior Energy Engineer and will be a work from home, remote position. The expected travel for this position will be 20-30% which includes flight time, with the potential for less than a week advanced notice. Projects may be nationwide but the concentration is located in the Western half of the country, so candidates already established in this area will be prioritized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of senior engineers and project managers to perform energy audits and energy benchmarking.
  • Perform site visits, including nationally, as required to perform energy services.
  • Conduct and author ASHRAE level I, II and III energy audits.
  • Property types include but are not limited to multifamily, commercial, institutional, and industrial.
  • Develop and/or review technical analyses via excel spreadsheet or modeling software.
  • Define and calculate savings for Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
  • Provide energy services for broader sustainability consulting projects.
  • Travel in-state and out-of-state to project sites as needed (approximately 20-30% of the time)
  • Ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less)

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering preferred
  • 0 to 5 years of specific industry experience, and/or equivalent combination of education, certification, training and experience.
  • Fundamental of Engineering preferred
