Summary: The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Ports America's mission-critical data and voice infrastructure. In this hands-on position the Sr. Network Engineer will regularly design wired and wireless networks in a variety of different locations. The Sr. Network Engineer will access and configure routers, firewalls, switches and other network devices as well as use several monitoring tools to ensure that stability and quality of the corporate network.

Essential Duties:

  • Design, implement, and support facility infrastructure for different company locations.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish metrics of problem source, resolution, frequency, and closure rates.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and provide resolution to existing data and voice environments.
  • Provide 24X7 tier three support and participate in the diagnosis and resolution of network related problems.
  • Administer and maintain the enterprise network and monitoring systems.
  • Travel as necessary to facilitate projects or support issues for location across the country.
  • Develop and maintain current documentation for the networking environment.
  • Integrate new communications technologies into our environment.
  • Plan, create, schedule, perform, and manage network activities in real-time, mission-critical operational environments.
  • Provide regular progress updates to management.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Certifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience in a hands-on role providing network engineering and support 5+ years.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining medium/enterprise scale networks.
  • 7 or more years of professional IT experience required.
  • 7 or more years of experience in networking enterprise class routers, switches, load-balancers, and firewalls.
  • Experience installing audio/video components and troubleshooting audio/video quality issues (QOS).
  • Cisco CCNP (Switching and Routing) required, CCIE preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of Cisco Networking hardware and Operating systems
  • In-depth understanding of network design and security.
  • In-depth understanding of EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VPN, IPSEC, Multicast, VoIP, MPLS, SDWAN, and QoS.
  • In-depth understanding of Cisco WebEx meetings and Hosted voice solutions
  • In-depth understanding of WIFI and private 4G/5G
  • Proven ability to apply technology and process solutions to business problems and manage large and complex projects and issues.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; proven team player, works well with other departments and with vendors.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and familiarity with Active Directory.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and work on their feet as required
  • Must qualify for Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
