Atkore is a recipient of a Great Place to Work certification and a Top Workplaces USA award! We are currently searching for a Quality Manager at our Phoenix, AZ plant. The Quality Manager reports to the site Operations Director. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, formulating corrective and preventive measures, and working to implement those actions to improve quality levels and regulatory compliance. The individual will serve as a change agent and represent the Quality function on assigned project teams.

What you'll do:

  • Be a leader in the Quality department by being accountable for the site's safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Leads team of quality technicians and work cross-functionally with production management to drive quality improvements.
  • Performs and documents customer complaint root cause investigations.
  • Performs and documents root cause investigations related to product and component rejections.
  • Generates and maintains Quality System documentation and ensures compliance.
  • Create, manage, and maintain quality specification processes for all products.
  • Presents quality data with analysis to the management team.
  • Supports Production personnel by communicating and resolving process and material related quality issues.
  • Supports plant cost reductions and process improvement projects utilizing various Quality tools such as FMEA, process capability, Gage R&R, SPC, pareto analysis and other six sigma/lean tools.
  • Performs periodic internal audits of the Quality System to ensure that it is effectively established and maintained in compliance with ISO. Manages ISO Certification Process.
  • Performs Quality Systems audits of Suppliers as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Value Stream Manager to develop and conduct training on quality standards, measurement devices, quality alerts, procedure changes, etc.
  • Assists in process improvement efforts by working with Process Engineers to identify, implement and validate process changes.
  • Reviews Certificates of Conformance as needed.
  • Writes protocols and performs validations of new/improved materials and processes.
  • Participates in Lean Manufacturing and as well as plant initiatives.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent work experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) credential strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication process preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, gauging and measuring techniques.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and experience with Six Sigma/Lean projects preferred.
  • Experience with ISO certifications.
  • Excellent communication skills within all levels of the organizations.
  • Experience managing teams which support and drive company values and initiatives from a leadership level.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Statistical Analysis Packages.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy
  • Educate yourself on product specifications, customer history, and existing quality processes.

    Within 6 months, you'll:

    • Align work priorities with Atkore's strategic direction and deliver practical business solutions
    • Establish full control of Quality related functions
    • Partner with all functions to define process capabilities, assess gaps, and develop gap closure plans.

    Within 12 months, you'll:

    • Manage the annual ISO recertification process and the controlled document create and management process for the Phoenix facility
    • Improve incoming supplier quality
    • Support plant cost reductions and process improvement projects using various Quality tools, process capabilities and other lean tools.
