The Student Services Specialist Sr provides student support in the Maricopa Contact Center. This position works collaboratively with a team of enrollment and financial aid professionals to provide remote customer service and communications for a diverse population of students and campus representatives. This position operates with a high level of customer service via phone, email, chat, text, and other communication modes.

The Student Services Specialist Sr provides coordination and day-to-day support of the Student Services Specialists and Technicians in the Maricopa Contact Center. The purpose of the position is to assist in the implementation and coordination of Maricopa Contact Center processes, procedures, initiatives, quality assurance, training, and maintenance of training documents and resources, specializing in enrollment services and financial aid. This position will require advanced organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects of varying complexity. The position reports to the leadership in the Maricopa Student Support Center. In order to be successful in this, knowledge of Title IV financial aid regulations is required.



This position works at the Wood Street location in Phoenix. This may be a work from home position on a part-time or full-time basis.

Essential Functions

30% - Provides comprehensive student support, specializing in enrollment services and financial aid via phone, email, chat, text, and other modes to prospective and current students; takes student escalations and problem solves complex situations

30% - Assists department/division with the implementation and coordination of daily contact center operations including quality assurance initiatives, training, and contact center projects

15% - Prepares documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and reports for training and/or project management purposes

15% - Maintains and creates correspondence, maintains database information and troubleshoots issues with contact center systems such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information System (SIS), and other related systems

10% - Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in an academic field from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Two (2) or more years of experience working in a high volume customer service call center environment.
  3. Two (2) or more years of experience working in a higher education environment with a role in Enrollment Services (admissions, records, registration, advisement, cashier, financial aid, outreach, or recruitment)
  4. Two (2) or more years using a Student Information System (Peoplesoft, Banner, etc.)
  5. Experience using a Customer Relationship Management Tool (CRM)
  6. Experience as a team lead
  7. Experience preparing, using, or analyzing data for quality assurance or program evaluation purposes
  8. Bilingual (Spanish-English)


Special Working Conditions



Hours of operation 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, varied schedules within these hours.

May be required to sit for a long period of time; viewing a computer monitor

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs

May be required to work evenings and weekends

Must be in good standing with the Department of Education as it relates to Federal Financial Aid.

May be required to work on site or at home. Technology (computer, monitors, mouse, keyboard, etc.) will be provided for work from home, but the candidate must have reliable internet. Other workspace requirements (desks, chairs, etc.) are not provided by the Maricopa Community Colleges. The candidate must have a private remote workspace.
