The Trades Generalist is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of Maricopa County facilities to include keeping spaces, structures, and infrastructure in proper operating condition in a routine, scheduled, or anticipated fashion to prevent failure or degradation. About Us
As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. Our broad range of services includes various aspects of the ongoing operations and maintenance of all County-owned facilities, management of all facility projects, and in-house design services.

We Require
Two years of experience involving a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to include semi-skilled trades tasks
High school diploma or GED
Other Requirements
Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire
Complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background investigation to access County detention facilities
We Also Value
Three years of experience within a large commercial, industrial, or institutional environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, and selected software programs including Maximo
Job Contributions
Facilitate and correct all repairs associated with a specific work order, including routine and/or emergency repairs
Respond to assigned service calls working within the system to finalize work orders
Take initiative and work independently to replace air filters, drive belts, ballasts, light bulbs, light switches, wall outlets, and low voltage motors managing work priorities
Operate hand tools and power equipment necessary to perform various building maintenance and repair tasks
Perform other trades activities - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and mechanical maintenance
Operate computers and mobile devices for time management, inventory, work assignments, and other related functions
Working Conditions
The physical environment requires work to be performed both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
Ability to function independently or in a team working environment and interact professionally with members of the public, vendors, coworkers, and supervisors. Position requires one to regularly position self to repair, remodel, troubleshoot, and maintain various components used by the County, including ascending and descending ladders, climbing stairs, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping including fine manipulation
Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
Ability to hear, see, and read. Work assignments are performed under some extreme temperatures, confined areas, high noise levels, dim lighting, dust or smoke, potential contagious diseases, and traumatic subject matter. Exposure to various forms of hazardous energy sources relating to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
Must be capable of using multiple forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) to fulfill the requirements of the position. Working environments include adult and juvenile detention facilities, medical facilities, public health, forensics, courts, and related justice facilities
