POSITION SUMMARY

Our Plant Superintendent has responsibility for all day-to-day manufacturing operations for our corrugated box manufacturing facility. By managing and coordinating direct report supervisory personnel, this role ensures safety, productivity, quality, cost, and waste operational goals are delivered. A successful Plant Superintendent also provides leadership and direction across multiple shifts to the manufacturing facility including overseeing plant production, materials, equipment, and tools to ensure efficiency is maintained, and production schedules are met.

This full-time position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is based out of ourGolden Valley, Minnesota manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision for a team of 7+ direct reports (150+ employee team) that manages major site functions of corrugated box manufacturing.
  • In partnership with our EHSQ function, leads overall coordination of safety and quality initiatives to continuously build a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure union / management relations stay connected with open and continuous dialogue.
  • Coordinate production activities with scheduling, maintenance, customer service, and production supervision to meet KPIs in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, and Delivery.
  • Establish, measure, and monitor performance across department manufacturing operations. Lead the supervisory team through root cause analysis of performance issues and execution of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance for manufacturing team in the areas of production, labor, design, and production scheduling.
  • Coach front-line supervisors on employee relations, performance management, training, discipline, and training to maximize leader capabilities while delivering on production objectives.
  • In partnership with the site Plant Manager, maintains two-way communication and engagement-focused culture to ensure all plant employees are clear on plant performance, feel connected to business KPIs, and understand how they can best serve our customers.
  • Continuously engage and mentor direct reports to drive development of their careers.
  • Provide leadership by connecting and being visible to all manufacturing shifts on a regular basis.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelors' degree Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Supply Chain, or Management OR 5+ years manufacturing leadership experience in lieu of education.
  • 3+ years people leadership experience.
  • Experience analyzing downtime and production data and identifying actions to deliver expected performance.
  • Experience with identifying and planning capital projects to drive improvement against KPIs.
  • Demonstrated experience with organizational effectiveness, operations management, and a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Experience developing and presenting information to multiple levels of the organization from front-line to senior leadership.
  • Superior time management, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, decision-making, and organization skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams to exceed expectations.
  • Relentless determination and courage to make things happen, with strong execution skills. Results oriented.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with Amtech / CTI or Kiwi.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems.
  • Previous experience in corrugated or paper manufacturing.
  • Lean and / or Continuous Improvement certifications.
