Job Description

THIS ROLE IS BASED OUT OF OUR MARANA, AZ OFFICE. CANDIDATE WILL BE EXPECTED TO REPORT TO THE OFFICE ON A DAILY BASIS.

The Senior Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of Project Management operations. This position is responsible for identifying customers, overseeing cost estimates and proposals, and executing projects with his/her teams and in conjunction with Bids & Proposals department. The responsibilities include all aspects of developing and managing a pipeline, managing LLC Project Managers (PMs) from an operational perspective including scheduling, managing materials, purchasing, fleet, equipment, and crews. This position tracks, reports, and completes projects within allocated funding, schedule, and technical performance objectives. This position will work with minimal oversight and follow directions. This position accurately develops MS Projects for each project and tracks the cost and performance of numerous projects within MS Project. This role will be accountable to closely follow corporate, project, safety, construction industry standards, and tower climbing standards. The work spans a standard office and field environment and will require travel to job sites. Additional leadership responsibilities in forecasting, strategy, and proposal/capture management for new business opportunities. This role will offer creative and innovative solutions for ongoing Process Improvement and project policy changes as needed. An emphasis on elevating new and existing Project Managers/Project Engineers to a higher standard is expected.

In General

  • Works with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope.
  • Coordinates project activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Conducts training for PMs on software and proper Project Management processes.
  • Trains PMs to manage sub-contractors and their workforce.
  • Develops subcontractor management processes.
  • Leads estimate development and review estimates with Estimator.
  • Conducts post-bid (in house) project review.
  • Develops continuous process of post-bid and post-project cost reviews.
  • Provides support for necessary permits, drawings, and submittals in accordance with the specifications and requirements.
  • Conducts a project plan reviews to identify potential conflicts and investigates the status of the project site.
  • Reviews with PMs job costing on a weekly basis and reviews it with project personnel and management during production reviews.
  • Monitors pay estimates and requests to ensure timely submittal by PMs.
  • Reviews and approves assigned invoices for payment, and trains PMs on the proper procedure to approve invoicing and field tickets.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies in every phase of operation.
  • Conducts project performance evaluation or reviews with project personnel and provides written reports.
  • Conveys and rolls out all updated company policies and procedures to new and existing personnel, as required.
  • Communicates, advocates, and enforces all applicable safety policies and procedures with employees, consultants, vendors/suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Project Management

  • Reviews project proposals to determine budget and funding estimates, procedures, and timelines for completing projects.
  • Develops project plans incorporating staffing requirements, materials, and scheduling of resources throughout various tasks of the project using MS Project.
  • Develops project management plans for each project.
  • Establishes work plans and staffing for each task of the project.
  • Arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Creates scheduling, budgets, statement of values, and sales forecast plans.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modified schedules or plans as required.
  • Onboards new subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and vendors to perform on projects, submits NDAs, subcontracts, request documentation to support onboarding.
  • Awards subcontracts and issues purchase orders.
  • Negotiates, executes, and initiates all change orders.
  • Initiates invoicing request to client through AR, approves subcontractor, consultant, and supplier invoicing in accordance with the statement of values
  • Obtains letter of acceptance for completed projects.
  • Prepares project reports for management, clients, and/or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve any issues or challenges.
  • Monitors project closeout: final quantities, final change orders, and final releases from agreements.

Driving

  • Operates a company vehicle in accordance with local laws/regulations.
  • Operates vehicles in safe and courteous manner and maintains a Safety First mentality top-of-mind.
  • Keeps assigned vehicle clean and orderly.
  • Reports maintenance requirements and/or damage in a timely manner.

Reporting

  • Performs timecard updates daily and sign timecards weekly to support reporting and payroll activities.
  • Performs job related reporting requirements per contract and corporate policies and practices.

Safety

  • Promotes, executes, and adheres to the company's safety program.
  • Manages and supervises daily and weekly on-site field safety briefings.
  • Manages and supervises safety meetings, conduct training sessions, and inspections.
  • Works in a safe, responsible manner without intentional or unintentional risks for injuring oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Cooperates with safety personnel, supervisors, managers, and investigators to ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company and customer's safety policies.
  • Identifies and reports safety violations to safety personnel.

Teamwork

  • Leads the crew to the successful completion of the project.
  • Promotes a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to communicate information and gather ideas.
  • Mentors' direct reports, co-workers, and subordinates to guide them in progression of their careers, and advancement in the company.
  • Collaborates with other company personnel to meet organizational and project deadlines, metrics, and mission objectives.


Education

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in business and construction management is required OR, 2 years of related experience can be exchanged for 1 year of required education (4 years of education or 8 years of direct experience).
  • MBA (preferred)

Experience

  • Five (5) years of industry experience (in addition to the education requirements).

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration

  • Project Manager Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Current driver's license
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Current OSHA 30 / EM385 Certification (preferred)

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Knowledge of leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of organizational operating practices or procedures.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction projects.
  • Ability to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects.
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Knowledgeable in construction equipment and governmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings of towers, structures, and foundations.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Must have the ability to work hours required to successfully complete the work which may include extended days and weekends
  • Willingness to lead with overall authority and responsibility.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to apply and use mathematical functions for construction
  • Intermediate computer experience using Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook, and MS Project
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug screening
