Minibus Transit Driver

The City of Peoria seeks to hire several individuals as a Minibus Transit Driver in the Neighborhood and Human Services Family & Youth Services to support travel needs for the programs located at the Peoria Community Center (Adaptive Recreation, Summer Youth/Teen Programs, Active Adults). Driver will have the opportunity to work in various work environments, with a variety of shift options.

The full hiring range for this position is $17.9977 - $22.4971.

In addition to being a results-oriented people person, a successful candidate for this position will be:

  • A safety conscious, punctual team player, with a high work ethic.
  • Knowledgeable of basic needs and safety concerns associated with the care of assigned populations.
  • Able to maintain a safe work environment, in accordance with program and city policies and procedures for participants, patrons, co-workers and self.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, regarding incidents, decisions and issues pertaining to activities, events, etc. to the assigned supervisor.

Additionally, this person will:

  1. Provide safe and efficient vehicle operations for the purpose of transporting passengers. Assist passengers, including seniors and persons with disabilities, with boarding and exiting the vehicle, and securing mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, etc.), as necessary.
  2. Ensure there is always water on board. Supervise participants on the bus. Account for all participants with crosscheck procedures. Exercise the necessary supervision of personnel to meet the needs of the activity, event, or program.
  3. Be responsible for the completion and filing of accident and statistical reports, regarding incidents and issues pertaining to program proceedings.
  4. Perform bus inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with the program, city and school district safety policies and procedures.
  5. Complete Pre-Trip and Post-Trip vehicle inspections, interior cleaning and vehicle refueling.
  6. Attend meetings or assist with other recreation programs, as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance card
  • Be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Have a valid AZ Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • CCC/AED certification is required within one month of hire
