About the Role

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of employee maintenance, data entry, timecard review, edits, validation, and balancing. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining organized employee records/files.

What you'll do:

  • Organize and perform the preparation work for each payroll including data entry items for employee maintenance, review/resolution of email submissions to the group email inbox, logs, checklists, and items reconciled and carried forward from the previously processed payroll.
  • Develop a high-level view of the full payroll life cycle from onboarding, timecard and payment processing, termination, reporting, and accounting.
  • Use various logs, checklists, work aids and tools to ensure accurate and consistent processes including follow up with outstanding items.
  • Review all checklists to ensure proper signoffs are included.
  • Accurately perform employee maintenance items such as validation for new hires, terminations, voluntary deductions, wage attachments, direct deposits and tax changes, etc.
  • Keep all records in an organized fashion.
  • Proactively identify problems and recommends resolutions.
  • Process entries according to established processes and in accordance with best practices that meet regulatory and compliance concerns.
  • Research and respond to requests for information by employees regarding personal payroll information and to agency requests for verification of income and employment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients, vendors, and consultants. Set reasonable expectations and meet commitments. Follow through to full resolution of issues or inquiries.
  • Payroll check/DDA sorting, reconciliation of counts, distribution, and packaging in accordance with acceptable SOX procedures.
  • Special projects as assigned by the payroll supervisor or director.

You have these skills:

  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook skills.
  • Strong skill, comfort and agility working with Excel spreadsheets to create, maintain and track data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to draft appropriate communications to employees and agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently.
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed productivity standards and complete work accurately in a timely manner within tight deadlines.

And these qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with three (3) to five (5) years of administration experience in Payroll, Finance or Accounting areas or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of database software.
