The Department of Medicine has a current opening for a Chief of its Division of Nephrology, who will also hold a Career Track Senior Level faculty position. While the department is posting both a career track and a tenure track position, only one will be filled. Career Track faculty in the department actively contribute to the clinical mission with a focus on clinical teaching, significant service commitments and participation in scholarly activities.
The Nephrology Chief will provide leadership, support and mentoring of faculty for the division's research, educational and clinical efforts. Applicants must hold a medical degree (M.D.) and be board certified in Nephrology. The successful candidate is expected to be an experienced academic leader and accomplished program builder with a national reputation in scholarship. The selected candidate will have a well-supported opportunity to build a world-class division that sets the standards for a 21st Century Department of Medicine and medical school.
The Nephrology Chief will provide leadership, direction and administration and management for the division. She/he will be responsible for recruitment of faculty and will be an accessible mentor and role model. She/he will work with UAHS leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and to promote academic and clinical productivity and quality and collaboration across divisions, departments, the campus and the community.
She/he will develop and sustain a strong, externally funded research program within the Division of Nephrology and provide research mentoring to faculty. She/he will recruit faculty members with established research programs and grant funding.
