University Career Architecture Project
The University of Arizona is in the process of creating a new classification and compensation architecture. This University Career Architecture Project (UCAP) will revolutionize the way we think about professions and manage compensation at the UA. It is a two year initiative that will replace the current classified staff and appointed professional categories of employment with market-based job functions and families. A typical day in the life of a Data Analyst includes:

*Manage our existing data set which includes day-to-day and ad hoc reporting needs
*Identify external data sources to help benchmark and execute strategic initiatives
*Identify key trends related recruitment and hiring processes
*Analyze existing data, systems, and tools to provide data management recommendations
*Partner on the creation of a user interface built to visualize data for end users
*Partner on the creation of visual aids supporting data storytelling
*Provide training, support, and straightforward recommendations to non-technical business users and customers

*Skilled in data analysis and reporting
*Skilled in interpersonal communications
*Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving
*Ability to present complex data to all types of audiences
*Ability to work independently and within a team

*Bachelors' degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.
*Three or more years of relevant experience.
*Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

*Experience working with HR data
*Experience working in a higher education environment
*Experience in one or more university administrative systems (PeopleSoft Human Capital Management or Cornerstone Recruiting system)
*Experience performing analysis using various techniques (statistical analysis, regression analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling) to identify patterns in data.
