The Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies (DPS) located in the College of Education (COE) at the University of Arizona invites applications in the area of Counseling, school counseling emphasis. This opening is for an open-rank (tenured or tenure-eligible) position designed to promote the program's focus of engaging in research, teaching, and service that can directly inform practice and address the needs of children and adults, as well as school, rehabilitation, and mental health personnel and policy-makers. The position begins August 2020.

The Counseling program is housed in the Department of Disability & Psychoeducational Studies within the College of Education. The faculty members are fully committed to playing a key role in addressing the needs of school districts and rehabilitation and mental health programs in the surrounding community, as well as impacting the lives of students and persons with rehabilitation and mental health needs on a national and global level. Program faculty have ongoing research projects in areas such as student motivation, career decision self-efficacy, ethics, bullying and peer victimization, resilience, psychosocial aspects of disability, sexuality, and employment discrimination, among others. Individuals who apply should be committed to scholarly work that advances research and practice. The Counseling program places a high value on collaboration both within the program and across disciplines. In addition to conducting research, the faculty member will teach at the graduate level and contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. The Counseling program offers a Master's Degree in Counseling with specializations in School Counseling, and Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. Both specializations are accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program is growing and in high demand with 130 students currently enrolled in the M.A. Degree in Counseling. The program also offers a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision with CACREP doctoral accreditation application submitted. Faculty in the department also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, university, and professional service. We seek individuals who bring energy, leadership, and a deep commitment to academic excellence. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work with diverse students, stakeholders, and colleagues.
