The University of Arizona’s (UA) Evelyn McKnight Brain Institute (EMBI) in Arizona Research Laboratories (ARL) is is search of a Program Manager for the UA Precision Aging Network (PAN).

The selected candidate will assist the Director of PAN and the Lead and co-lead of the Administrative Core to implement the strategic vision for the Precision Aging Network. This includes assisting in the establishment of processes to ensure rigor and transparency in all Cores and Projects and for evaluating progress on milestone-driven metrics for all PAN activities. This will require a high-level understanding of the goals set for each component of the PAN, so that this individual can optimally facilitate the work of the Administrative Core and larger Steering Committee to implement the priorities for PAN activities, monitor markers of productivity, impact, and budget. The selected candidate will assist in the development and conduct of the multi-year evaluation plan with specific milestones to measure progress so that identification of areas for improvement can be identified to enable rapid change if necessary.

This position is in the ARL Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute (EMBI). This individual reports to Dr. Carol Barnes (P.I. and Director of the Precision Aging Network [PAN] Grant, Lead, Administrative Core and Director of the EMBI) and to Dr. Meredith Hay (Associate Director of the Precision Aging Network [PAN] Grant and co-Lead, Administrative Core).

The mission of the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute is to discover the mysteries of the normally aging brain to achieve a lifetime of cognitive health. Founded in 2006 at the University of Arizona, the institute is one of only four McKnight Institutes nationally. Scientists used to view the aging brain as an inevitable story of decline. We now know that the brain continually adapts throughout life- a more hopeful outlook on the world's most condensed mystery. Because of the inventive research of Dr. Carol Barnes and other affiliated faculty, along with the continual development of new technologies, the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute is poised to contribute to southern Arizona as a center for high-level neuroscience, while also improving cognitive understanding and health for the entire world.

*Oversees the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and spending projections for each of the projects and cores.
*Oversees all PAN Project and Core project managers and monitors progress to ensures milestones and timelines are being met and works with PAN leadership to mitigate any issues.
*Helps to prepare annual reports, proposals for new funding, and other grant-related documents as required.
*Assists with editing scientific papers and other academic products from PAN executive leadership
*Communicates regularly with the Project and Core Leads and co-Leads and their managers, assists in identifying any problems they have encountered,
*Communicates with the PAN Project and Core leaders, sets up and attends meetings, and keeps records of publications relevant to the PAN and other progress in each of the projects such as grants that have resulted from PAN activities.
*Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new staff.
*Organizes the annual meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board and assists the Steering Committee to prepare their annual report to the National Institutes of Health.
*Stays current on University, state, and federal policies that affect the activities of the center
*Supervises the administrative financial associates and others who assist in administrative duties
*Additional duties may be assigned.

*Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate with minimum of 5 years of program management experience in large complex scientific related projects.

*Graduate degree (Master's, PhD)
*Some basic knowledge of neuroscience would be beneficial.
