Position Summary

The Director of Corporate and Community Relations will contribute to strategic planning and execution for the building and fostering of relationships and partnerships with community groups and business entities that connect with the University of Arizona Health Sciences' strategic vision and initiatives. The role reports to the Executive Director for Corporate and Community Relations in the UAHS Office of Communications, and is based in Phoenix.

The University of Arizona is in the process of creating a new classification and compensation architecture. This University Career Architecture Project (UCAP) will revolutionize the way we think about professions and manage compensation at the UA. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a corporate and community relations plan that includes metrics and goals that align with the strategic plan for the Office of Communications and the strategic initiatives of UAHS.
  • Work alongside the Executive Director to identify opportunities to cultivate relationships and build community and corporate partnerships in Tucson and Phoenix.
  • Work closely with the Brand Promotion, Creative Services, and Digital and Interactive Media teams in the Office of Communications to ensure optimum visibility and outcomes for corporate and community partner activities.
  • Manage targeted UAHS speaking engagements and high-profile special events, and coordinate appropriately with similar activities executed by UAHS Colleges and the University of Arizona.
  • Represent UAHS on non-profit boards, committees and commissions as deemed beneficial.
  • Organize stakeholder engagement through organizing events, managing tours, meetings, roundtables, etc. for corporate and community partners.
  • Act as key ambassador for UAHS and use in-depth knowledge and experience in brand strategy, stakeholder engagement and creative outreach approaches to advance a distinctive and strengthened brand.
  • Respond to or redirect inquiries from media, Congressional/City staff, intergovernmental organizations, private sector or the general public, and various other duties or projects as assigned.

  • Skill to communicate direction from leadership and articulate impact on staff work objectives.
  • Ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use information exchange, influence, and active persuasion to gain cooperation of others to support department objectives.
  • Ability to plan and direct operations of a program or functional area.
  • Contribute to budget process for functional area.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously, while managing competing priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, including 3 years of managerial experience.
  • Experience planning, developing and implementing strategic corporate and community relations plans, programs and activities applicable to medical education, health care policy, nursing, pharmaceutical sciences and basic science research.

  • Strong empathetic skills: listening, adopting right tone of voice, adapting style according to the personalities involved.
