Job Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

  • The Designer is responsible for providing drafting and design support for engineering departments by assuming full drafting responsibility for assigned projects from concept to customer.
 

ESSENTIAL DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares drawings of piece parts and assemblies of unusual, complex or original concept in design requiring a high degree of precision and expertise from engineering data, e.g., casting drawings, deep draw stamping drawings, system arrangements, etc.
  • Prepares layouts of complex units or assemblies for entire projects that frequently do not include existing precedents.
  • Prepare electronic bills of material and related documentation to assist the Estimating team with material breakdowns, material nesting, area or signs and weight of signs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of drafting room procedures such as retrieving and applying information from engineering standards, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of standards (Commercial and Military) for design application and conformance as related to job.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machine tool usage and limitations.
 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Other duties are required in support of the department and company
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or another lighting related curriculum
EXPERIENCE
  • Proficient in 3D design software packages
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply mathematical applications to ensure job specifications are met
  • Proficiency reading blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; understand, speak, read, and write in English language
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
